New York Jets coach Robert Saleh has liked what he's seen from veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers during organized team activities. "For him to push the envelope and continue his rehab (from an Achilles injury), he has no restrictions and he looks good, man," Saleh said Tuesday. "The arm talent, obviously, is still there. But it's really just re-acclimating to everything. We're trying a bunch of new stuff, too. Just trying to evolve within the offense." When asked whether Rodgers is taking snaps under center and executing footwork on handoffs, Saleh was quick with a response. "He's doing everything," he said. Rodgers was at OTAs with teammates after being floated as a candidate for vice president on a ticket with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. "I love Bobby. We had a couple of really nice conversations, but there were really two options: retire and be his VP, or keep playing," Rodgers said. "I wanted to keep playing." Rodgers said he understands the pressure is amplified this season to deliver a winning season after a short-lived run as a potential franchise savior last season. Rodgers, 40, followed a celebrated tenure with the Green Bay Packers by playing just four snaps before suffering an Achilles injury during his debut with the Jets Sept. 11, 2023. "If I don't do what I know I'm capable of doing, we're all probably going to be out of here. I like that kind of pressure, though," he said. Rodgers said "this is the last part" of his rehab, gaining confidence on the field. "It's just about the mental part," Rodgers said. "These practices have been nice the last couple days. Feel what it's like to be out there moving around and not be thinking about it. See how I feel the next day." Saleh said Rodgers is checking the boxes as he continues to recover from the injury. "As far as we're concerned, he's on track and what he's able to do, there's no limitations to what we're asking him to do at practice," he said. A four-time NFL MVP, Rodgers passed for 59,055 yards, 475 touchdowns and 105 interceptions in 230 games (223 starts) for the Packers from 2005-22, compiling a record of 147-75-1. He made 10 Pro Bowls and led Green Bay to a Super Bowl XLV victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Jets' quarterback room also includes veteran Tyrod Taylor and rookie Jordan Travis, drafted in the fifth round last month out of Florida State. --Field Level Media

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani pleaded not guilty Tuesday to nine felony charges stemming from his role in an effort to overturn Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss in Arizona to Joe Biden. Giuliani appeared remotely for the arraignment that was held in a Phoenix courtroom. His trial is scheduled for Oct. 17, about three weeks before the U.S. election. His plea follows a not guilty plea by former Arizona Republican Party chair Kelli Ward for the same charges. Ward and nine other people were arraigned in a Phoenix courtroom on conspiracy, forgery and fraud charges. The Tuesday arraignments were the second held in the case.

Storms that pummeled much of Nebraska spun up fierce tornadoes Tuesday in Iowa, taking down several 250-foot (76 meters) wind turbines and causing extensive damage in at least one rural town. Des Moines television station KCCI-TV showed at least three wind turbines that were toppled by an apparent tornado in southwest Iowa. At least one was in flames with black smoke pluming from the bent structure. Other images posted on social media showed extensive damage in Greenfield, a town of about 2,000 around 55 miles southwest of Des Moines. The severe storms were expected to hit Minnesota, Illinois and parts of Missouri later Tuesday.

The United Nations says it has suspended food distribution in the southern Gaza city of Rafah due to lack of supplies and insecurity. It also said no aid trucks entered via a pier set up by the U.S. for sea deliveries for the past two days. The U.N. has not specified how many people remain in Rafah after the Israeli military launched an intensified assault there on May 6, but they appear to number several hundred thousand. Abeer Etefa, a spokesperson for the U.N’s World Food Program, warned that “humanitarian operations in Gaza are near collapse.” She said that if food and other supplies don’t resume entering Gaza in “in massive quantities, famine-like conditions will spread.”

JERUSALEM (AP) — The Israeli government will return a camera and broadcasting equipment it had seized from The Associated Press on Tuesday, reversing course hours after it blocked the news organization's live video of Gaza and faced mounting criticism for interfering with independent journalism.

It’s so hot in Mexico that howler monkeys are falling dead from the trees. At least 83 of the midsize primates, who are known for their roaring vocal calls, have been found dead in the Gulf coast state of Tabasco. Others were rescued by residents, including five that were rushed to a local veterinarian who battled to save them. Mexico has been hit by a harsh drought and extremely high temperatures. Around a third of the country saw highs of around 113 degrees Fahrenheit, or 45 degrees Celsius, Monday. Lakes and dams are drying up, water supplies are running out and authorities have had to truck in water for everything from hospitals to fire-fighting teams.
