J.J. Watt left the door open for a potential NFL comeback, although he admitted that the door is closing quickly. Watt, who announced his retirement after the 2022 season, said at his charity softball game on Saturday in Houston that he'd suit up for the Texans if he was truly needed. "I'm a very fortunate, lucky man, I have a beautiful wife, I have a beautiful son," Watt said. "I've had 12 great years in this league and I'm very thankful to have walked away healthy and playing great. "I told (former teammate and current Texans coach DeMeco Ryans) last year, I said, ‘Don't call unless you absolutely need it, but if you ever do call, I'll be there.' And he knows not to call unless he absolutely needs it. This is the last year I'll tell him that, because I'm not going to keep training the way I've been training, but he knows that if he ever truly does need it, I'll be there for him. I don't anticipate that happening -- they've got a very good group." Watt, 35, played for the Texans from 2011-20 before finishing his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals (2021-22). Houston bolstered its pass-rushing group by signing Danielle Hunter and Denico Autry, who last season recorded 16.5 and 11.5 sacks, respectively. Watt is a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, five-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl selection. He was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame All-2010s Team. Watt currently is an NFL analyst for CBS Sports. --Field Level Media

What would you do if you were given an extra day? How would you celebrate those extra moments? Would you start the day with a cup of coffee or a meditative walk watching the sunrise and ending with a great meal and a table full of loved ones at sunset? Would you make time to have lunch with …

Students protesting the ongoing war in Gaza have left a pro-Palestinian encampment at the University of Southern California after they were surrounded by police and told they might face arrest if they didn’t go. The move, days before commencement, came after the university said campus safety officers, assisted by the Los Angeles Police Department, were clearing the area and that anyone not complying would be arrested. The encampment had restarted after the LAPD first arrested 93 people on April 24. In Boston, a commencement ceremony for Northeastern University began peacefully Sunday at Fenway Park. Some students waved Palestinian flags but those were dotted among flags from India, the U.S. and other nations.

More storms are moving through the already saturated Houston area, where flooding from heavy rains has led to the rescue of hundreds of people from homes, rooftops and roads. National Weather Service meteorologist Hayley Adams said that rain was expected in the area throughout the day, with storms expected to produce a heavier downpour. Houston is one of the most flood-prone metro areas in the country. The city of more than 2 million people has long experience dealing with devastating weather.

Panamanians are voting in an election that has been consumed by unfolding drama surrounding the country’s former president, even though he's not on the ballot. Voters in the Central American nation are weighing promises of economic prosperity and migratory crackdowns against a corruption scandal. The presidential race remained in uncertain waters until Friday morning, when Panama’s Supreme Court ruled that leading presidential contender José Raúl Mulino should be permitted to run. Mulino joined the race late, replacing former President Ricardo Martinelli as the candidate for the Achieving Goals party. Martinelli was barred from running in March after he was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for money laundering.

Hamas says the latest round of Gaza cease-fire talks has ended in Cairo after “in-depth and serious discussions." The militant group reiterates key demands that Israel again rejects. After signs of progress, the outlook appears to dim. Israel has closed its main crossing point for delivering badly needed humanitarian aid for Gaza after Hamas militants attacked it. And the defense minister warns of “a powerful operation in the very near future in Rafah and other places across all of Gaza.” Egyptian state media says the Hamas delegation has left for discussions in Qatar and will return to Cairo for further negotiations on Tuesday.

Russia has launched a barrage of drones on eastern Ukraine and claimed its troops took control of a village they had been targeting as Ukraine marks its third Easter at war. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged Ukrainians in an Easter address to be “united in one common prayer” and called God an “ally” in the war with Russia. Ukraine’s air force said Sunday that Russia had launched 24 Shahed drones, of which 23 were shot down. At least 16 people, including a child, were wounded in the Kharkiv region. Russia said its troops took control of the village of Ocheretyne in the Donetsk region.
